How It All Began
My name is John Hamilton, known in the music industry as J Hustle 501, and my story didn’t start in a studio or a boardroom—it started behind bars.
I went to prison twice. Not because I lacked talent, but because I lacked direction. I grew up where survival came before strategy, where hustling was a mindset long before it was a brand. I made choices based on the moment instead of the future, and those choices cost me years of my life. Prison has a way of stripping you down to nothing but time and truth. When everything is taken from you—freedom, comfort, ego—you’re left with one question: Who are you really going to be when this is over?
The first time, I didn’t learn enough. The second time, I had no excuse not to.
Behind those walls, I made a decision: I was done letting my past dictate my future. I started writing—music, ideas, goals. Lyrics became therapy. Beats in my head replaced the noise around me. I studied the business side of music, ownership, publishing, and structure. I promised myself that if I ever got another chance, I wouldn’t just chase a dream—I’d build something solid.
When I came home, nothing was handed to me. I had a record, limited resources, and plenty of people who doubted me. But I also had vision, discipline, and hunger. I turned pain into purpose and mistakes into motivation. Instead of hustling the streets, I hustled legally, creatively, and strategically.
That grind became Hustle Music Entertainment LLC.
What started as a personal comeback turned into a company built on second chances, real talent, and ownership. Hustle Music Entertainment isn’t just a label—it’s proof that you can rewrite your story. We focus on artist development, creative control, and giving voices to people who come from where I come from—places where dreams are often buried under bad circumstances.
Today, I stand as the CEO of Hustle Music Entertainment LLC and an independent artist who understands both sides of the game—the struggle and the strategy. I’m not proud of my prison time, but I’m not ashamed of it either. It shaped me. It taught me patience, accountability, and the value of freedom.
My story is for anyone who feels counted out, labeled, or stuck in their past. If I can go from prison cells to owning my own company, then your setback doesn’t have to be your ending.
This isn’t luck.
This is growth.
This is Hustle—with purpose.
